Why I podcast?

Born in Covid, the Tell it like it is podcast is now 5 months old, with a bank of 26 episodes, listeners in a few thousands across 35 countries and engagement in the top quartile. And I have you to thank for that. I’ve often been asked why I podcast and if it makes money.

My response has always been I cover the concepts of purpose, performance and reward and explore these through the lens of the guests. I do what I do to build relationships and pay it forward. Of course, the relationships are priceless.

The podcast is not commercial and does involve time in research, building a story, interviewing, editing, and mixing before it releases on Thursdays.

The rewards are in kind and deeply meaningful. Like when a young neighbour who is in commercial real estate walks up and asks when the new season is releasing because he has been secretly following the series for interesting guests as a source for good quality leads. Hmm, I must charge him.

Or when a group of students text to say that they found the series to be a bridge between the theory they study and the practical way in which the concepts are put to use.

Or when an author finds new readership and praise for his book and calls to say thank you.

What I’ve learnt from all the interviews is that the best among us are guided by purpose, driven to perform and view rewards as the impact they have created.

Speaking of impact, S4 explores the impact of dreams, a vision, a purpose across some crazily talented folks.
